Welcome to the Beltala Park Collective!

About Us. 

The Beltala Park collective is dedicated to capturing life on the streets of Balurghat and beyond. We intend to record the city and its journey as it fathoms into the depths of the future. We believe in the principles of exploration, engagement, and inclusion. We intend to engage in deep dialogue about the work, both individually and collectively.

We encourage all photographers, amateurs, hobbyists, enthusiasts, and professionals.  All are welcome!

What do we do?

We are preserving memories, and documenting life in public spaces. The group aims to promote the work of its members and street photography in general, to create a collective body of work, as well as to shape visual awareness of the public sphere through the medium of photography, workshops, exhibitions, and other activities.

How do we want to do it?

1. We will use regular meetings to critique one another's work to help one another grow, not simply as an opportunity to tear someone down or lavish praise.

2. Everyone will remain open-minded and ready to consider something new. We may bring in speakers to discuss topics where they have expertise.

3. Photo walks will be scheduled to explore locations, venues, times of day, or techniques. These will likely be open to non-members as well.

4. Monthly session anywhere, preferably with a screen to display images. 

5. Collect and print photographs taken by members.

Disclaimer: 

The collective is a group of serious photographers seeking to promote photography and develop aspiring members. Respect, compassion and professionalism are values we demonstrate as photographers. People associated with any other collective, group, club etc can be a part of this in their individual capacity.

We want to keep this collective free forever. You will never be asked to pay anything to join this group. This is our promise. Let us grow together. Help each other learn and unlearn things. The collective will strive to bring out the best in all of us. 

There are no leaders or any other posts as such in the collective. We are equal and share the ups and downs together. Photography is the one thing that brought us together, and we believe, it will keep us together. 

To begin with. There would be three strict rules. 

1. Go out and shoot. 

2. Sit together to critique, curate, and learn. 

3. Start writing.

for the love of light, and the urge to write with it...
